IndiBlenders · A dessert brand, started with friends · Oct 2020 – Mar 2021

The first thing I ever sold was a milkshake.

Before any job, there were two small food businesses, both started with friends. Neither was a family business, and neither was a grand plan.

    Blenders

At PDPU, after nine or ten, the campus had nothing you would want to eat. So a couple of friends and I sold milkshakes, and anything made with milk, to our friends in the hostel. Not a grand plan. But we could run the machine ourselves.

    IndiBlenders

A dessert brand, started with friends: Indian sweets inside Western desserts. They did the baking. I did everything else.

  3. Mar 2021
    What came next

IndiBlenders ran until March 2021. That December I joined Zomato, signing restaurants onto the app.

Everything but the baking

The desserts were my friends'. The rest of the business was mine.

The pricing

What a dessert should cost, so people bought it and it still paid for itself.

Finding the demand

Who wanted Indian sweets in a Western dessert, and how to reach them.

Working out delivery

How an order got from the kitchen to the door.

What it taught me

It was the first time I noticed that I liked the machine around the product more than the product itself.
